Ringing in the changes for 2022

After 12 years of operating Atelier Art Classes, Nick Leavey will be stepping away from the role, and will be handing over the reins to Amber Simpson, a long time resident artist at the studios.

Whilst Amber will be bringing changes to the way the studio runs, many of the teachers who work here, including Nick, will be continuing next year. In addition, we can look forward to a wider variety of teaching styles, and a new wealth of Arts workshops, and social events.

If you have outstanding classes or Gift Vouchers, it is important that you redeem them by the end of the year.

For information about classes for 2022, please go to www.chromestreetstudios.com which will be up and running soon. for ongoing classes in 2021 click on ‘CLASSES’ above.

Wednesday Life Drawing has finished for the year 17/11/21

Wednesday evening life drawing has ended for the year as of Wednesday 17th November. Keep your eye on the studios new website www.chromestreetstudios.com for information about next years life drawing sessions.

Thank you to all of you who have participated in our life drawing sessions, and we look forward to seeing you again next year.

Brian Deagon

Sadly, we learned this week that Brian Deagon, a long time friend, teacher, and supporter of the Atelier passed away on 04 10 2021. Brian fought his ill health like a Lion for the last few years of his life, and will be sorely missed by all of those who had had the pleasure of his company. Our thoughts and sympathy go to his friends and family. He will be greatly missed.

General Studio classes

Our teaching features demonstrations, examples, and guided exercises that are aimed at helping student’s achieve their artistic goals at their own pace.

We offer a wide range of classes, both in person at our Studio in Brisbane QLD, and Online. Details for our regular studio classes with Isabella Allis, Nick Leavey, Wayne Van Eyk, Frances McKennairey, and Michael Doung are given in our CLASS TIMETABLE.

Online ART classes

Online Life Drawing Classes have ended. A big ‘Thank you’ to all of you who joined us during those trying times. To find out more about what we were doing, or simply to look around our studio, watch our video, which apparently has been ‘X’ Rated!

We’re exceptionally proud of our students and visiting artists, and want to show off their work. You can now view our Online Gallery featuring the incredible work that has been created during our Online Life Drawing sessions.

Testimonials from our students

The quality of instruction is invariably high…

“The atelier has given me a solid basis to explore the world of drawing and painting. I work full-time in another field but due to the incredible flexibility offered by Nick, Ryan and Scott I'm able to engage in tuition at a regular rate. The quality of instruction is invariably high and sensitive to the stage of development that individuals are at. I feel very fortunate to have found such a fantastic inspiring resource on my doorstep.”

- Peri

A great atmosphere…

“There's a great atmosphere at Atelier and you do actually learn to draw and paint. It's possible for anyone who listens well to be an artist to create something nice to put on the walls.”

- Sandy

Love the teachers and their boundless enthusiasm…

“Love Atelier. Love the artists that go there. Love the teachers and their boundless enthusiasm and information. I am very grateful for the support and encouragement I have received and how my practise has improved and will continue to improve because of them. Thank you Atelier.”

- Monica

Atelier Helps me to understand the why and how of art…

“Rather than pushing agendas through art, Atelier Art Classes are about "art". The techniques, the processes, the actual "act" of creating.
It may not make sense to everyone when they first begin the journey, but it has been what I have learnt here that helps me to understand the why and how of art, from simple sketches to painting and sculpture, both figurative and conceptual.
If you want to learn about "being" an artist, this is definitely a good place to start your journey and to return time and again. There is always something to be learnt...”
